Qualifying List Announced for 2022 National Bank Open presented by Rogers

Featuring 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens

Tennis Canada, organizer of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers, announced the qualifying draw for the 2022 tournament taking place at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto from August 6 to 14.

As the world’s best tennis players arrive in Toronto to compete for the prestigious National Bank Open trophy, the qualifying matches will take place on Saturday, August 6, and Sunday, August 7 with some high-profile matchups. 14 of the 32 players in the field have won a WTA Tour-level singles title and the list also features several former Top 10 players.

“We have one of the best main draw and qualifying draws in our tournament’s history,” said Karl Hale, Tournament Director of the National Bank Open in Toronto. “The qualifying draw has a number of WTA Tour-level winners, a Grand Slam champion, and former Top 10 players – it really will be an amazing year at the National Bank Open.”

Stephens, Garcia and Tomljanovic Return to Toronto

Sloane Stephens (No.53) of the United States is a US Open champion (2017) and will look to make a deep run at the tournament. Stephens has had success in Canada in the past, having made the 2018 final where she lost a three-set thriller to two-time champion Simona Halep. Caroline Garcia of France (No.48) has also had great results in Canada, reaching the quarter-finals twice, Toronto in 2017 and Montreal in 2018. She is also a two-time WTA 1000 Level champion having won Wuhan and Beijing in 2017. Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia (No. 68) is arriving in Toronto after a successful tournament at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships where she lost in the quarter-finals in three sets to eventual champion Elena Rybakina.

407 ETR Family Weekend is back for the 2022 National Bank Open presented by Rogers with plenty of fun and free activities for the whole family! A fan favourite for all ages, this is the perfect opportunity to watch the qualifying draw and see your favourite players at their practice sessions and qualifying matches on opening weekend. Located at Sobeys Stadium, the 407 ETR Family Weekend will take place on August 6 and 7, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., admission is free to enter the grounds and events will run all day long on both Saturday and Sunday. It is sure to keep you and the family active and entertained throughout the entire weekend.

Tickets to the National Bank Open

The National Bank Open presented by Rogers is a prestigious tournament owned and operated by Tennis Canada. Year after year, it attracts the biggest and brightest stars in professional tennis. In 2022, the women’s edition (WTA) will run from August 6 to 14 at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto.
