The competitive action on the court was high-quality, with some players in good form bringing their A-game to Toronto. And between matches, fans were hitching a ride around the grounds to meet a certain web-slinger from the Big Apple.

Results

Top seed Marie Bouzkova cruised back into the main draw with a victory over Wimbledon semifinalist Tatjana Maria in the second round of qualifying. It is the second time in a row that Bouzkova has qualified in Toronto.

Last time, in 2019, she turned the opportunity into a semifinal run, where she lost to Serena Williams.

She is joined by fellow seeds Ajla Tomljanovic, Claire Liu, Madison Brengle, and Tereza Martincova. The latter defeated the last Canadian in the qualifying draw, Marina Stakusic.

Storm Sanders, Asia Muhammad and Cristina Busca also qualified on Sunday. Busca upset her fellow Spaniard, second seed Nuria Parrizas Dias.

Fan Experience

Day two of 407 ETR Family Weekend kept the festivities going with events all over the grounds at Sobeys Stadium.

Like the rest of us, tennis players have interests off of the court too.

During a meet-and-greet with fans, world No. 2 Anett Kontaveit got a question about one of her favourite non-tennis things: her plants.
