The first evening matches of the women’s edition of the National Bank Open star two homegrown talents: Leylah Annie Fernandez and Rebecca Marino.

At 7 p.m., the 18-year-old Montrealer will battle qualifier Harriet Dart of Great Britain on Centre Court—the only stadium court open to ticket holders.

Afterwards, the Torontonian will clash with Madison Keys (16) of the US.

At 11 a.m., Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia will compete in the first match of the day against Katerina Siniakova of Czechia. Then, Magda Linette of Poland will take on Nadia Podoroska of Argentina.

In mid-afternoon, another seed will make an appearance: Maria Sakkari (11), who is stepping out of the shadow of her countryman Stefanos Tsitsipas, will fight to get ahead of Marie Bouzkova of Czechia.

In the only other match featuring a seeded player, Karolina Muchova (14) of Czechia and qualifier Océane Dodin of France will tussle on Rogers Court, which is closed to the public, in compliance with current health measures.
