The National Bank Open, formerly Rogers Cup

Rogers Cup to host Armed Forces Day through Commissionaires partnership

July 11, 2019

Rogers Cup presented by National Bank is delighted to announce a new partnership with Canada’s largest security provider and private sector employer of veterans, Commissionaires. As part of the agreement, and in an effort to recognize all the armed forces do for our country, Saturday, August 10th’s day session at the 2019 Rogers Cup will be renamed ‘Canadian Armed Forces Day presented by Commissionaires’.

“We are very pleased to partner with Rogers Cup to sponsor Canadian Armed Forces Day at this year’s event in Toronto,” commented Benjamin Alexander, senior vice-president and Chief Operating Officer at Commissionaires Great Lakes. “We’ve partnered with Tennis Canada in the past and the event has been well received within the veteran community.”

A Commissionaires representative, alongside a former veteran, will conduct the coin toss on Centre Court ahead of the session’s semi-finals match. This follows the announcement the WTA Tour’s top 39 players have confirmed their entry to this year’s Rogers Cup, including the likes of 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, current World No. 1 and French Open title-winner Ashleigh Barty and Toronto’s own Bianca Andreescu.

“We are delighted to be able to recognize the great work done by Commissionaires and our country’s armed forces at Rogers Cup presented by National Bank this year,” said Rogers Cup tournament director Karl Hale. “We are very much looking forward to hosting many of their employees as well as a group of esteemed veterans at our day session on semi-finals Saturday. We hope they all enjoy the world-class tennis on display as well as all our tournament has to offer off the court.”
