Tweets of the week: WTA players react to Wimbledon announcement

April 3, 2020

The loss of Wimbledon has been the tennis fans worst nightmare since the COVID-19 breakout earlier this year. Losing a Grand Slam seemed unthinkable just a month ago, yet the announcement of the postponed Championship, for the first time since World War II, came on Wednesday.

We couldn’t have said it any better, Serena.

Simona Halep will wait another year to defend her maiden title.

She used some of her quarantine time to frame the racquet she won with last year, and we love this quote: “At least I get to be a reigning champion for two years.”

Many other players weighted in on the cancellation, sharing images of fonder times at the tournament.

In other news, Tik Tok continues to be the place to be; Kristie Ahn keeps making them and we keep loving them!

World No. 5 Elina Svitolina also jumped on the Tik Tok train, and we’re here for it!

Venus Williams is soaking up the sun in quarantine (and choosing which room to go to next). We miss the ☀️.

We all have WAY too much time on our hands right now; perfect time to clean, organize, and declutter!

Love this video of Serena’s family.

This tweet about overthinking is making me overthink.

Madison Keys continues to auction off items to support the fight against COVID-19 and support the #NoKidHungry campaign.

Johanna Konta finally finished that puzzle she’s been working on. Looks great!

And we saved our favourite for last this week. You’re a genius for this, Caroline.
