The National Bank Open, formerly Rogers Cup

Statement following the measures announced by the Government of Quebec on May 18

May 20, 2021

We are pleased with the measures announced by the Government of Quebec on May 18 regarding sporting events and facilities. The gradual return of sports and sporting events is excellent news not only for sports organizations, but also for all young athletes in Quebec, whether they are amateurs or professionals.

Three months away from the 2021 edition of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers, we hope that the measures announced today and the progress in vaccination bode well for the tournament. In this regard, Tennis Canada continues to have productive discussions with medical authorities. We hope that the improving health situation in Quebec will help us answer certain questions that remain unresolved, notably the considerations of hosting international athletes.

We remain confident that we will be able to present the National Bank Open presented by Rogers in Montreal in August, with the health and safety of players, fans, staff and the general public remaining our main priority.
